Inspired by today's poem prompt. https://poems.com/poem/pennsylvania/

Oliver lay curled up, one eye open Watching his human leave for her date In a few hours she'd be back, another cursed third date It was his furry back she was going to cry into Which was a small sacrifice Coz, sorrow for her meant treats for him Including tubs of mint- chocolate chip ice cream The creature of comfort dreamed a week-long fiesta Three hours later, he heard the door keys To receive his mistress and the nightcap partner Only to be overlooked, and locked outside the bedroom But worse, anxiety had the orange tabby pacing all night Enough hungry to want to claw out the too tall freak making his coffee As morning came, but the bastard smiled scooping out his kibble Perhaps the decent chap, after all, needs a chance?
