Day#6 of #napowrimo
So here's my take on today's prompt with reference to Heronimus Bosch's the Garden of Earthly Delights. You can find the tour of the entire painting with commentary in the link.
If you're ready for some art appreciation along with poetry, then read along!
In this 15th century tryptich, there's the depiction of the Garden of Eden, Earth and hell in each panel. While the prompt was to write from the point of view of one person/animal/thing from the multitudes to choose from, this 'girl' in the background stood out for lme, and quite peculiarly occupied/ pre-occupied from the ongoings and I wanted to write with her as my narrator.
That would be me
the girl in the background
Celebrations all around
But I’m just an observer
A pretender
within the inner circle
being cool and exclusive
amongst all of the hippies
I think about all the mundane
and the spiritual
but don’t know if I chose it
or this life chose me
What does my future hold?
Wonder what my sins are
Where will I go from here?
Do I believe in any of this?
Know I stand out
just as much as I’m invisible
in the eyes of anyone
who might care to see
